Mike Bull, was educated at Taunton School and then read Law at King's College London, graduating in 1964. After qualifying as a solicitor he worked in South-East London as a local authority prosecuting solicitor for several years. Then moving to work for Surrey County Council, he became a specialist Planning solicitor acting as advocate for the local authority at many major Public Inquiries. Mike moved to Devon in 1974 to become Solicitor to Mid Devon District Council, a post that he held for 17 years before becoming Chief Executive of that Council for 10 years in 1991. He retired in 2001.
Mike has been an Independent Member of the Police Authority since 2003, having been re-appointed through a public competitive process in April 2007 for a second four-year term. He has a special interest for the Authority in strategic roads policing and the forensic science services of the Constabulary.
