Complaints

Diversity Audit Summaries
The Authority is committed to the principles of ensuring that its policies and procedures are fair and transparent. To assist with this, when new policies are presented for approval they will be accompanied by a diversity audit and where appropriate a full impact assessment. In addition, existing polices are being audited to ascertain whether or not impact assessments need to be undertaken.

Financial Regulations
To conduct its business effectively, the Authority needs to ensure that it has sound financial management policies in place and that they are strictly adhered to. Part of this process is to adopt and implement Financial Regulations.

FOI Publication Scheme
The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000 received Royal Assent on 30 November 2000. It gives a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities, sets out exemptions from that right and places a number of obligations on public authorities. Any person who makes a request to a public authority for information must be informed whether the public authority holds that information and, subject to exemptions, supplied with that information.

Risk Management
The Corporate Governance Committee approved the Police Authority's Risk Management Policy on 16 September 2008. The Authority has a risk register which is regularly reviewed and updated. Standing Orders
Standing Orders are the rules which the Police Authority use to conduct its formal meetings. Our Standing Orders are contained within our constitution.

Stop and Search
It is possible that when you are driving your car or walking down the street you may be stopped by police officers who want to search you or your vehicle. The information found here on our Force website is provided to help you understand why the Police carry out this procedure, what you should expect and your rights under the law.
Standards Committee Hearing Procedure
In the event of the Standards Committee conducting a hearing into the alleged misconduct of a Member of the Authority the procedure to be followed has been agreed by the Committee.

Treasury Management
Treasury Management is an important part of the Treasurer’s responsibilities. The Treasurer is required to present a Treasury Management Strategy to Members each year, setting out how investments, borrowing, cash flows and banking arrangements will operate during the year. In addition, police authorities are required to approve an Annual Investment Strategy before the start of the financial year.

The Police Authority film all their formal meetings so that you can watch them live on the internet. We also record them so you can watch them on the Internet at a later date to suit you.
