The Policing Pledge
Devon & Cornwall Constabulary has pledged to improve the service it delivers to you. The Policing Pledge is a promise to you to provide a quality of service that meets your – and your community’s – needs and increases your confidence in local policing. You can read the Policing Pledge here.
Devon & Cornwall Police Authority fully supports the Policing Pledge and we will work with the Constabulary to see that the Pledge is embedded in the way the police serve you.
It is a critical role of the Police Authority to ensure that the Constabulary is constantly striving to improve their service to you.
We will do this by closely monitoring how the Constabulary delivers services to you in line with the content and spirit of the Policing Pledge. The Police Authority has set challenging improvement goals for the Force that place a specific focus on your satisfaction.
You can follow how we do this by viewing the work of the Police Authority on our webcasts (visit http://www.dcpa.public-i.tv/site/) and reading the minutes and reports from our discussions (visit http://www.dcpa.police.uk/how/index.htm).
In the summer of 2009, all police forces in England and Wales were assessed against their progress towards delivering upon the commitments in the Policing Pledge. This assessment was conducted by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) Their report is available here:
The Force has a plan in place to address the areas needing improvement. The Police Authority will monitor the Force's progress against this Plan.
