Devon & Cornwall Police & Authority Local Policing Plan and Annual Report
Foreword from the Chief Constable and the chair of the Police AuthorityThe Force area of Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly is now the third safest place to live in the country. Crime is falling across the counties, whilst victim satisfaction and the number of people who tell us we are doing a good or excellent job continues to rise each month.
However, we are now facing a major financial challenge. Significant cuts to the grant we receive from central government mean that the Authority faces a budget cut in excess of 20 per cent over the next four years. In real terms this means that the Force must make savings of about £50m. We are in a good place to build on the work we have done over the past few years to make these savings but, nonetheless, it will be challenging to meet the targets in the timescales given.
