Devon and Cornwall Police Authority response to the launch of ‘HMIC Police Report Cards’
Devon and Cornwall Police Authority are pleased to receive this Report Card following the inspection of Devon and Cornwall Police by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary.
Chair of Devon and Cornwall Police Authority, Mike Bull, states “This first report card for Devon and Cornwall Police is overall very pleasing. There is enormous encouragement for the Authority, the Force and for the public of the two counties. The Report Card is also a real fillip for all who work for the organisations because the continued good work of those employed by the Police, particularly in the area of reducing crime, has been subjected to critical examination and been found to be good. There are some areas that need improving of course and the Police Authority has a key role to play in ensuring the Police get better in those areas whilst not at the detriment to other areas.”
He continued: "Whilst the Police are ‘meeting the standard’ in relation to neighbourhood policing we know that the communities of Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly value their local policing teams. Devon and Cornwall Police Authority intends to take a particular interest in the Police’s response to improve this grade. The Authority wants all the people who live in our two counties to have great confidence in the quality of the policing they receive. It is working hard to ensure that this is achieved."
